American Dance Abroad presents an evening of dance, featuring four Philadelphia-based artists/companies of diverse genres (program subject to change):
-Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers will perform "Santuario," a stunning artistic response to the Pulse Nightclub shootings in Orlando, Florida last June (36 min).
-BalletX will perform "Credo," a contemporary ballet inspired by choreographer Matthew Neenan’s recent travels to India. With new cultures, scents, symmetries and chaos everywhere, he found himself with a surplus of new dance ideas and questions about how communities work, live, and love together (26 min).
-Jaamil Olawale Kosoko will perform an excerpt from "Séancers," a work that collapses lyrical poetry, psychic movement forms and strategies of discursive performance to investigate concepts of Black magic, resurrection, and paranormal activity (20 min).
-Megan Bridge/fidget will perform a staging of Robert Ashley’s experimental opera "Dust," a work with complex musicality, surreal narrative, and a strangely ebullient and humorous tone despite subject matter that includes war and a drug-induced conversation with God (45 min).
American Dance Abroad will host a wine reception during the evening’s 30-minute intermission.
