Change #19, inspired by the 19th Amendment, is in anticipation of the Centennial Celebration of the Woman's Suffrage Movement. This piece will explore how the role of the American "woman" has evolved since the moment women were allowed the same rights as men in 1920 and how that has affected her place in society as well as her household. "Change #19" uses dance, music and media to tell this story. This work will seek to explore communal inner life, guided by the words of a Philadelphia Poet Laureate, Yolanda Wisher, representing those historical women who paved the way to end the Woman's Suffrage Movement. This showing will include short excerpts from our creative rehearsal process as we continue to develop ideas for the full evening length production, which will officially premiere in 2018.
