Illadelph Legends Festival - July 22nd to the 29th

The Illadelph Legends Festival is a week long hip hop dance intensive taking place in Philadelphia (The City of Brotherly Love), at The University of the Arts with classes running daily from 9am to 5pm.

As the festival approaches its tenth year, the event brings together an amazing array of dance innovators and the masters of hip hop dance movement convene annually in order to share their understanding of the dance with BBoys from all over the world. Illadelph opens up a platform to artists across the United States and internationally, who can expand and challenge boundaries and definitions of hip-hop in general.

This year Rennie Harris Puremovement (RHPM) is reaching out to the BBoy community in order to expose more BBoys to the history and foundation surrounding the dance. RHPM hopes to provide more BBoys with the opportunity to learn from the originators. Renowned BBoy instructors Pop Master Fabel, Kwikstep, Rockafella and Philly's own Cesa will be teaching everything from the basics of the foundation to a more advanced understanding of movements and their origins.

2007 is set to be one of Illadelph's finest years with teachers from all styles leading classes in their respective fields.  Instructors will teach classes in BBoy/BGirl, Hip-Hop, Party dance, House, Popping, Locking, Mambo, Salsa, along with some of Rennie Harris’ own House techniques.
This year’s teachers include (but not limited to):

Buddha Stretch, the first Hip-Hop choreographer. He has been nominated for two MTV Awards for Best Choreography, danced in videos for Eric B. and Rakim, Will Smith and Michal Jackson, as well as choreographing for the world famous Mariah Carey.

Brian "Footwork" Green is a legend in the world of house dance. While his place as one of the best house dancers in New York City is solidified he also has a long list of dance accomplishments that reads like a dream come true.

Moncell “Ill Cosby” Durden, a member of Elite Force/Mop Top Production, will be teaching locking classes. Moncell has a wealth of dance knowledge and expertise ranging from Funk and Hip-Hop to traditional African dance.

Pop Master Fabel, a member of Rock Steady Crew, will be making the trek from New York to Philly in order to teach and lecture on Saturday and Sunday.

RockaFella and Kwikstep, co-founders and artistic directors of Full Circle Productions, bring years of experience and talent to the classroom. Both have performed and competed at an international level as well as judging Battle of The Year in Germany.

Participants will also get the chance to visit the local dance scene in Philadelphia. Philadelphia has one of the best scenes on the East coast. Our Locking has been called the greatest in the world, our BBoy scene has the illest up and coming crews in the country and our house scene is unrivaled. The evenings will be filled with special events arranged for anyone interested in BBoying, House, Salsa or Locking.

This year is labeled to be one of our best yet! Don't miss your opportunity to take part in a unique Philadelphia experience. History for the taking....
