$62; Non-Mem. $77
5 WEEKS JUNE 2 - 30
PERFORMANCE ON JUNE 30

This course is a five-part series aimed toward both the
intermediate-advanced level dancer who has an interest in performing
improvised work for an audience and the choreographer who would like a fresh
perspective on composition to enhance their own choreographic process.
Participation in all five classes is encouraged but not required. For those
who do participate in all five classes, those dancers will have the
opportunity to perform informally in an event that will be publicized and
open to the public, hosted by the University City Arts League.

Week 1: Untapping Movement/Heightening Awareness Find unique movement
vocabulary and delve into uncharted territory. Experience how less is more.
The beautiful skills of listening, watchi ng and sensing are refined to
enhance synchronicity in ensemble improvisation.

Week 2: Spatial Puzzles Hone sense of the space by creating positive and
negative space, playing with balanced and imbalanced compositions within the
space, and defining the space through pathways and patterns.

Week 3: Building the Structure & The 4th Dimension in Composition Inherent
in every composition is the structure. Explore objectives and themes, and
how to shape movement ideas through beginning, middle and end. Use time
consciously as a compositional element while exploring the power of pacing
and stillness.

Week 4: Creative Partnering >From simple weight-sharing to flying, there are
opportunities for spontaneous partnering. Incorporate these moments with
clarity and elegance.

Week 5: Performance!!! Share the fruits of this experience with the public!
An evening of ensemble work, made in the moment consciously and fearlessly!
Be a part of this special and electric experience!
