On Sat. June 14, The PHILADELPHIA SCHOOL OF CIRCUS ARTS will open with a weekend-long bash including free one-hour classes for kids and adults, plus student and professional performances and great food too. Come experience unicycle, tightrope, balance, juggling, equilibristics...and even the tots circus (ages 3-5 years). . There are only 3 other full-on circus schools in the U.S. and a handful in Europe. Founder, trapeze artist Shana Kenndy, 32, trained in England. She already has more than 150 students under her wing (including some who come from as far away as Baltimore, Harrisburg and Princeton). With this school in Germantown, in a 3200 sq. ft. former furniture warehouse, she will guide as many as three simultaneous classes and 7 faculty, using 18 rigs and other apparatuses. Free parking in adjacent lots. Following the Grand Opening June 14-15, the School will offer a range of weekly summer classes and daily camp spots for children, adults and families. Individual and individual family classes can be scheduled as well. Parties too. Come Fall, the program will be even bigger! 5900 Greene St. (corner of Rittenhouse Street), one mile east of Lincoln Drive.
