SILHOUETTES

New photographic exhibit of dance in silhouette set to preview on Saturday,
June 28th from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Ethical Society, 1906 South
Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia.

'A silhouette is a view of some object or scene consisting of the outline
and a featureless interior, with the silhouette usually being black. A
silhouette is a form of artwork. It is most commonly a human portrait in
profile, in black.'

With that in mind, photographer Brian Mengini set out to capture portraits
of dancers in Silhouette. This new exhibit, which will tour throughout the
Greater Philadelphia region, is set to premier on Saturday, June 28th from
3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Ethical Society at 1906 South Rittenhouse Square
in Philadelphia.

Featured in the silhouettes are the members of local dance company, Music &
Motion Dance, who will be appearing for their fifth year in the upcoming
Philadelphia Live Arts & Philly Fringe set for the Fall.

Brian Mengini has been capturing Philadelphia's creative pulse for over ten
years now and blends his two passions , photography and dance, into one
wonderfully fulfilling journey. As a former manager of Rennie Harris
PureMovement, in the mid 1990's, Brian developed a deeper understanding of
dance and movement, but also an eye for its emotion. His photos and
writings have been published in periodicals such as the News of Delaware
County, Shamokin News Item, The Trend and the Pew Charitable Trust's
Prospectus.

The exhibit is free and members of the general public are invited to attend
this opening.
