A Conversation with: Mestre Cobra Mansa President and Founder International Capoeira Angola Foundation (ICAF) Salvador, Bahia-Brazil

Mestre Cobra Mansa has dedicated over 30 years to training, researching, teaching and preserving the Afro-Brazilian martial art, Capoeira Angola through the International Capoeira Angola Foundation. Mestre Cobra Mansa also dedicates much of his time building a cultural arts center in Coutos, Bahia as well as an organic farm in Valença, Bahia. Dr. Kenneth Dossar is an arts consultant and cultural historian, who develops public cultural and educational exchange projects with Salvador, Brazil. Professor Dossar created and directs the Temple University in Brazil Study Program, which takes students from North American universities to Brazil to study African Culture and Portuguese.

The Pennsylvania-Bahia partnership is the local chapter of Partners of the Americas-POA (http://www.partners.net), a nonprofit international development organization. Our goal is to strengthen existing and establish new relationships between institutions and individuals in Pennsylvania and Bahia, Brazil. Our organization facilitates volunteer and professional exchanges and under specific guidelines can provide travel grants to move people between Salvador and Philadelphia. Among the areas of particular interest to the Pennsylvania-Bahia partners are arts and culture, education, public health and economic development.
