About Traves Butterworth:
Traves began dancing and performing during college. After completing his undergraduate work, he performed with Sonia Plumb Dance Company, Bludance Theatre, Greensboro Ballet and High Point Ballet. In 1999 upon completion of his MFA in Choreography at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, he founded the Butterworth Dance Company (BDC). BDC has performed throughout the US and in Mexico . Butterworths unique and authentic movement invention appeals to diverse audiences by combining technical dance with human emotions and dynamics. BDCs choreography draws much of its inspiration from Butterworths strong musicality. Butterworth has choreographed over 30 dance works during the past 6 years. BDC has performed by invitation at Temple University in Philadelphia , PA , San Diego State University and the Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh , NY .
His class is a blend of technical and organic movement designed to strengthen and expand the dancers performance quality.
