High Five
HIGH FIVE: Is an improvisational movement class for people of color, minorities and their allies.I hope to help facilitate a shift that renegotiates this art form in a tangible way; making it financially accessible to those in my community. Imrovisational dance is an art form that engages space, movement, dance and language verbally and non verbally that can be a useful tool that can engage themes of oppression and struggle while also celebrating collective diversity by weaving stories together in unison through movement, which is historically a significant form of expression which is rooted within our cultural framework and paradigm.
In this class we will break away from our typical movement modes via resistance, impulse following, counter movement, mimicking etc.
We will also explore interpersonal relationships and how oppression and struggle influences these relationships.
This class is all levels.
