Odissi, known for its percussive footwork paired with curving movements and sculpturesque poses, is one of the neo-classical dances of India. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of the form, including mudras, the hand gestures that are used extensively in Indian dance. History and cultural context will be discussed as well. We will dance barefoot.

Our Odissi classes are open to all levels.
