The 954 Dance Movement Collective (
http://www.954dmc.weebly.com) is currently accepting proposals from dance artists for World Dance Day 2012, an outdoor performance event on Sunday, April 29th.
World Dance Day 2012 is about:
* dance performances
* mini dance lessons
* dance artists across all disciplines getting together to informally share the importance of dance in our communities
* getting more people to see, think and talk about dance
Please send us your proposals as well as web links, information about your group/company, cultural legacy of dance style and the specific work you're proposing for consideration by April 16, 2012. The final programming is geared to be as eclectic and mixed as possible. The outdoor surface of the performance space (the Piazza at Schmidts) is not appropriate for all types of dancing, but a great space to introduce unlikely audience members to your work.

What is World Dance Day?
World Dance Day was established in 1982 by the International Dance Council - CID of UNESCO to bring attention to the art of dance every year on the 29th of April. This festival is in its 3rd year and it continues the mission set out by UNESCO in 1982 to spread the joy of dance to the general public in an open and accessible manner. Celebrations occur all around the world.
