We are looking for male and female dancers between the ages of 18-25 that’s really serious about dance and love what they do! Showstoppers is a dance group that competes in talent showcases all over the tri state as well as in hairshows, and fashion shows. We’ve auditioned for America’s got talent, 106th Park, and Apollo! New youth company forming….This is not a dance school, there are no competitions, there are no fees, just a unique opportunity to dance and create.

- You need to have a passion for dance! And really be open to explore new ideas in creating new dance works and performances.

- You should be between the ages of 14 – 22 years

- You should have at least 2 years of formal dance training and/or experience. All genres accepted.

- You need to be able to make a time commitment to us – We practice every Sunday (except holidays) from 1:30-5:00PM throughout the year.

- Performances are generally on weekends during Spring & Fall but a much lighter schedule. Once school is out in mid-June, we generally have a heavier performance schedule through the Summer up until mid-August.

- If under 18, you need to have parental permission.

Appel Farm Arts and Music Center, a regional arts center near Elmer, Salem County, NJ, is seeking a part-time dance educator for an exciting new program beginning in the fall of 2010. Beginning in September 2010, Appel Farm Arts and Music Center will oversee the Visual Arts, Dance and Theatre Academy Program in conjunction with Arthur P. Schalick High School and the Salem County Vocational and Technical School. This is a unique partnership that will allow students to learn not only from their instructors in the school, but from professional teaching artists who will provide a new dimension of experience to Academy students. Instruction will be complemented by visits of guest residency artists who will bring their real-life artistic experience into the classroom and lead students in special projects that coordinate with the curriculum of the main teaching staff.

This permanent part-time position is 28 hours per week from September through June. The instructor will be based at Arthur P. Schalick High School but with some travel to Appel Farm Arts and Music Center, which is a ten minutes drive. The Dance Instructor reports to the Director of Arts Education at Appel Farm.
Duties include: – 15 hours of instructional time per week in High School level Dance 1, 2, 3 and 4 students – approximately 30 students – development of a dynamic dance curriculum based on the NJ State Curriculum Standards and a guest artist program – assist with hiring and supervising visiting residency artists – assist with recruiting potential students – partner with Theatre and Visual Art instructors for special projects

An ideal candidate will have a Bachelors or Masters in Dance or Dance Education from an accredited college or university. Teacher certification is required. Strong communication skills and high energy level are a must. The candidate must have a knowledge of and proficiency in the technical aspects of dance as well as a historical understanding of the art form. Must have a valid driver’s license. Ideal candidate will have an interest in contemporary dance, Bachelors degree and a minimum 2 years experience in a non-profit cultural setting, particularly in regards to fundraising and financial management.
